Action over Voice

I noticed that many blogs and sites dealing with world peace have more to do with ‘voice’ than ‘action’.

It’s a great idea to sign a petition or vote in a poll to give the proverbial ‘hurrah’ for world peace, but as a family, a state, a nation and the globe, we need action and ideas for concrete implementation of those ideas. The closest I come, so far, to fulfilling my end of the bargain is to foster ‘kindness’ between people. I am not a high-profile mover-and-shaker, just an everyday ‘Joe’ looking for ideas to better my world by improving ‘ours’. When my husband and I talk about world peace we run through the gamut of world economics, social issues and military modifications. The whole idea becomes very complex; and yet, if we appeal to our sense of ‘goodness’ it should be so simple. The reoccurring notion we always come back to is that the concept of world peace must begin at a grassroots level. First, benevolence to those you love or hold dear, then your neighbors, your community, state, nation, country and globe.

I guess questions to ask yourselves are: Am I taking care of my family? Can I do anything to make my community more successful and harmonious? Is my state governor and country president a good steward of my interests? American or not, Lincoln’s phrase “For the people, by the people,” and “all men are created equal,” and “Life, Liberty and in the pursuit of happiness,” from the Declaration of Independence are concepts the entire world would be better off dwelling on. Not to mention the positive guidance in Jesus’ notion of “Love one another as yourself” the Taoist tenet of the Three Jewels, “compassion, moderation, and humility,” and Lennon’s “give peace a chance;” merely a few large voices throughout man’s brief history.

Are you satisfied that you have voice? If not, is it because you are merely complaining to your friends over a beer or martini at your local watering-hole? Or because you’ve actually taken action and have been turned down?

I, myself, need ideas, and I’m hoping you can help me, yourself and the rest of the world.

I agree with the initial premise of world peace being initiated at the grass roots level first. Governments just can't seem to do it themselves.
What is needed is a workable/ reasonable frame work for communities to adopt and adapt as needed.

1:
I would think that the basic idea of a victory garden in the back yard certainly has the proven ability to control retail market prices for such commodities.
2:
In this same vane bio-digesters/ biogas to electricity would be a more solid investment than any wall street investment with a much higher return on investment (ROI) as well as reducing co2 levels.
3:
In these unstable market times and real estate values plummeting, it only makes sense to repackage the market as a community that has what no other community has.
First, voluntarily each member of the community partition their local government for tax incentives to give up and pledge to never own a firearm. In return the local government would agree to provide taser guns to every family at a reduced rate. This would allow for non-lethal home defense which is granted by the constitution and the bill of rights. The overall affect would be that this type of community would be highly desirable and therefore defeat the real estate bust and act as an example for other communities.
For the first time since the founding of the nation the people would be telling the local government what and how to do things which is the way it should be. Once people got a taste of personal empowerment there would be no stopping them.
4:
Most importantly the title 35d inventions need to be released and marketed immediately. For those who don't know title 35 is a clause in the current rules for patent application concerning devices that claim to produce more output power than is provided to the input. Currently there are over 10,000 such devices squelched by the government by means of 'national security'.
With this there needs to be a concerted effort to phase in these devices so as to not collapse the existing fagile economy.

If I can think of a few basic things like these surely people brighter than me can think of even better methods.
I hope these feeble attempts help to gather other ideas into a workable plan.

Thanks for your response, I appreciate your time. I’ve seen a program on one of the green channels covering a zero-waste project in India; the system was impressive.

Your revised idea of self-protection is interesting and has merit; the whole idea of personal ‘weapons’ always gives me pause, but it’s something to consider.

As for the title 35 inventions, do you have a link that you can post to this information?

And can you expand on the idea of the victory garden?
